Final Fantasy-X (ファイナルファンタジーX )
Saturday, June 27, 2009
![]() Final Fantasy X is a console role playing game developed and publish by Square(now Square Enix)as the tenth installment in the Final Fantasy series. It was released in 2001 for Sony's Playstation 2. The game marks the Final Fantasy series' transition from entirely pre-rendered backdrops to fully three-dimensional areas, and is also the first in the series to feature voice actors. Final Fantasy X replaces the Active Time Battle(ATB)system with a new Conditional Turn-Based Battle (CTB) system, and uses a new leveling system called the "Sphere Grid". Story: Final Fantasy X begins late in the story, with the main character, Tidus, waiting with his allies outside the ruined city of Zanarkand. Tidus narrates the series of events leading up to his present situation, which spans most of the game's storyline. It begins in Tidus' home city, the unruined and high-tech Zanarkand, where he is a renowned star of the underwater sport blitzball. During a blitzball tournament, the city is attacked by an immense creature shrouded in water known as Sin. The city is destroyed, and Tidus and Auron are taken by Sin to the world Spira. After arriving in Spira, Tidus is rescued by Al Bhed divers in the area, and upon asking where he is from, one of them, Rikku, tells him that Zanarkand had been destroyed 1000 years earlier. After another attack by Sin, Tidus is separated from the divers and drifts to the tropical island Besaid, where he meets Wakka, the captain of the local blitzball team. Wakka introduces Tidus to Yuna, a young summoner planning a pilgrimage to destroy Sin using the "Final Aeon" from the ruins of Zanarkand. Accompanying Yuna are her guardians: Lulu, Wakka and Kimahri. The party travels to gather aeons, defending against attacks by Sin. The party encounters Auron, who joins them. He reveals to Tidus that Yuna's father,Lord Braska; Tidus's father, Jecht; and he himself made the same pilgrimage and defeated Sin ten years ago.Tidus thought his father had died at sea ten years earlier.Following more encounters with Sin, they are joined by Rikku, who is revealed to be Yuna's cousin. When the party arrives in the Guado city Guadosalam, Seymour proposes to Yuna, and she informs the group of her intent to marry him for Spira's sake. Seymour's aide, Tromell, guides the group to Guadosalam's temple, where they see a message from Seymour's late father. He declares he was killed by his son, and that Seymour's evil nature will destroy Spira. The group engages Seymour in battle and defeats him; soon afterward, Sin attacks the group and they lose track of Yuna. Rikku guides the group to the Al Bhed "Home", which is under attack by Yevon. While searching Home's base, Tidus learns that a summoner must give their life to perform the "Final Summoning". Using the Al Bhed's airship, they escape the base before it is destroyed. The group resolves to save Yuna and they discover her at Bevelle, where she is forced into marrying the now unsent Seymour. They interrupt the wedding and escape with Yuna towards Mt. Gagazet, where Seymour has slaughtered the tribe there; after defeating him, the group heads to Zanarkand.Tidus learns that he, Jecht, and the Zanarkand they hail from are summoned entities akin to aeons.Long ago a summoner named Yevon had the city's surviving people become "fayth" so that he could use their memories of Zanarkand to create a new city in its image, removed from the warfare on the Spiran mainland.Sin was also created, given form by Yevon to serve as armor; protecting himself and the fayth. While continuously summoning Dream Zanarkand, Yevon lost his humanity and became known as Yu Yevon, a being existing solely to maintain Dream Zanarkand's existence.Over the next 1000 years, Sin would persistently attack the people of Spira to prevent the discovery of Dream Zanarkand's existence.Once the player completes Yuna's pilgrimage, Lady Yunalesca—Yevon's daughter and the first summoner to have defeated Sin —tells the group that the Final Aeon is created from the spirit of one close to a summoner. After defeating Sin, Yu Yevon's spirit possesses the aeon, transforming it into a new Sin. The group decides against using the Final Aeon and they defeat Yunalesca. They then seek a new way to permanently destroy Sin that will not require any sacrifices. This leads the group to enter Sin's body and battle Seymour, Jecht's imprisoned spirit, and Yu Yevon. Sin's cycle of rebirth ends, and the spirits of Spira's fayth are freed from their imprisonment, dispersing the pyreflies of the aeons, Dream Zanarkand, and Tidus in the process. Afterward, in a speech to the citizens of Spira, Yuna resolves to help rebuild the world now that it is free of Sin. After the credits, there is a brief scene with Tidus underwater. He opens his eyes and begins swimming upward, and the screen fades to white. There is also a romance subplot between Tidus and Yuna where during the story, they build a relationship which is forced to end when Tidus fades away. However, the underwater scene, as well as a possible continuation of their relationship, is explained (if the player meets certain conditions) in the sequel, Final Fantasy X-2. Characters: *Tidus ![]() Tidus is the main protagonist and a skilled seventeen-year-old blitzball player who is later discovered to be a dream of the Fayth. Though Tidus is his official name, the player has the option of naming him at the beginning of the game. For this reason, his name is never spoken in-game during audible dialogue. He plays for the Zanarkand Abes – whom his father also played for – and washes up on the Spira mainland after being attacked by Sin during a blitzball game. He quickly becomes one of Yuna's guardian and is described near the end of the game as the greatest guardian of all time. Tidus is usually a cheerful and confident person. Throughout the game, he finds himself coming to terms with his father, Jecht; dealing with his increasing fondness for Yuna and the implications of her pilgrimage; and discovering how and why he is a dream of the fayth. *Yuna ![]() Yuna is the female protagonist and seventeen-year-old human summoner. Final Fantasy X's system has her use healing magic in the game, while also allowing her to summon powerful magical entities called "aeons". Already known throughout Spira as the daughter of High Summoner Braska – the man who, ten years earlier, brought a brief respite from Sin's destruction (The Calm) – Yuna has chosen to embark on the summoner's pilgrimage to become a High Summoner herself. The burden of this responsibility is expected to see Yuna journey to temples across Spira, acquire the aeon from each and ultimately summon the Final Aeon in a battle that will claim both its life and hers. Her weapons are a variety of staves, and she is able to summon ten aeons during the game. As Yuna's story progresses she gradually becomes more open and falls in love with Tidus. Because Yuna's mother was an Al Bhed she has heterochromia, so one of her eyes is green and the other blue, a reflection of her mixed heritage. *Auron ![]() Auron is a twenty-five-year-old warrior (who feels thirty-five), attacking with various blades that fit into the Katana category. Shortly after the disappearance of Tidus' father, Auron became something of a mentor for Tidus, watching over him from afar. In the game's present day, he – along with Tidus – is Yuna's guardian, as he was to her father. It is eventually revealed during the game that Auron attacked Yunalesca in a fit of rage after she revealed that Braska and Jecht needlessly gave their lives against Sin, and that she struck him down with a mortal wound. Despite his injuries, Auron manages to literally crawl all the way to Bevelle before his strength abandons him. He meets Kimahri outside of the city, and requests that Kimahri fulfill a promise that Auron made to Braska in his stead (that Yuna be moved to Besaid and have a peaceful childhood), before he dies.Afterward, he became an unsent, and secretly held this status for nearly the entire duration of the game (this is why Auron would not enter the Farplane at Guadosalam in Final Fantasy X as he may not have been able to physically leave after entering). Soon afterwards, Auron takes advantage of his undead status and rides the reborn Sin to the Dream Zanarkand, where he watches over Tidus until the present day, where he and Tidus are transported to Spira at Jecht's request. At the end of the game, when Yu Yevon is defeated, he is finally laid to rest. Auron was also once a warrior monk for Bevelle, but he holds no connection to the teachings of Yevon during Final Fantasy X. *Wakka Wakka is a twenty-four-year-old professional blitzball player, characterized by a long reddish-orange quiff, muscular body, and a Besaid Island accent. As such, he uses such speech-mannerisms as saying "brudda" for "brother" and sometimes finishing sentences with "ya?". His name means "water" in Ainu.n addition to being one of Summoner Yuna's guardians and childhood friends, he is captain of the Besaid Aurochs, a blitzball team that – as of the beginning of Final Fantasy X – went twenty-three years (One of the Luca Goers says 'At least you broke the twenty-three-year streak' if you lose to them in the Finals Round at the Tournament) without winning a single game.He uses blitzballs as his weapons in battle, making him the only character who can reliably hit flying enemies, as well as making him and Lulu the only characters who can attack physically at range. Wakka is one of the three players that can fight underwater. *Lulu ![]() Lulu is a twenty-two-year-old black mage and one of Yuna's guardians. Lulu sends dolls—including cactuars, moogles and other Final Fantasy creature types—to attack enemies by proxy.Born on the island of Besaid, where she grew up with Wakka, Yuna, and Wakka's younger brother, Chappu, Lulu is often stern and scathing (particularly to Wakka). However, she is nonetheless caring toward others. Lulu was particularly harsh towards Tidus when they first met, but her opinion of him slowly changed for the better as the story progressed. She is also highly intelligent, is one of the few Yevonites who easily questions the Yevon religion on objective terms, and is far more accepting of Rikku's Al Bhed nature than Wakka initially was. She is well endowed, and is often compared to Tifa Lockhart in this regard. Before becoming a guardian to Yuna, Lulu guarded two previous summoners whose pilgrimages abruptly ended. Her second pilgrimage, that of Father Zuke, ended in the Calm Lands(a common decision among summoners). The pilgrimage of the first summoner Lulu guarded, Lady Ginnem, was cut short by her death in the Cavern of Stolen Fayth. This event still troubles Lulu's memories, but when Yuna and company detour to the valley where the cave is located, Lulu decides to face her painful memories. At the back of the cave, the group meets the unsent bodily shell of Lady Ginnem.Lulu felt that she must fulfill a last duty to Ginnem as a guardian in ensuring that her spirit would depart to rest peacefully on the Farplane. After fighting and defeating Yojimbo – the aeon having been summoned by Ginnem – Ginnem's spirit departs for the Farplane. Lulu had been romantically involved with Wakka's younger brother, Chappu, and his death at the hands of Sin affected Lulu greatly. However, Wakka and Lulu fall in love and marry six months after Final Fantasy X, with her adopting his surname. *Kimahri Ronso ![]() Kimahri Ronso is a twenty-five-year-old Ronso and Yuna's first and most faithful guardian. He has known and protected her since she was a seven-year-old child. Even though he is seven feet tall he was not well accepted by the other Ronso, who view him as inferior due to his shorter stature and broken horn. Kimahri doesn't speak much, and is extremely protective of Yuna. The game's backstory reveals that Kimahri's guardianship of Yuna began long before she officially decided to become a summoner. After departing from Mt. Gagazet in shame ten years before the current events depicted in Final Fantasy X began, Kimahri discovered a dying Auron—who had managed to crawl all the way from the Zanarkand Ruins while wounded—outside Bevelle. Auron told Kimahri about the daughter of High Summoner Braska,Yuna, and asked him to fulfill a promise Auron had made to Braska in his stead: to remove Yuna from Bevelle and transport her to the island of Besaid, where she may grow up peacefully.Kimahri honored Auron's request and made sure that Yuna arrived at Besaid safely. When his task was completed, he prepared to depart, yet Yuna pleaded with him to remain with her, and he complied. *Rikku ![]() Rikku s a fifteen-year-old Al Bhed who helps Tidus when he first arrives in Spira, but then disappears from the story for a while, becoming the last character to join Yuna's entourage of guardians. Her attitude is somewhat childish, but is also quite cheerful and positive. An Al Bhed, she is also Yuna's cousin and loves her dearly, and, as such, wishes to prevent her from going through with her pilgrimage, becoming particularly insistent as the party climbs Mount Gagazet toward Zanarkand. She is also the one who informs Tidus that Yuna would die if she summoned her Final Aeon. Comment: I played this game on a second playthrough now...cos last time I didn't complete all the side quest and also haven't help all my character to get their ultimate weapon...I'm playing an International Final Fantasy X so if I didn't get all the weapon/armor chest in all of the temple, I maybe will encounter those "Dark Aeon" and its hard to beat them...I like this game control feature Sphere Grid! Its really make me think how to use my own strategies to get the abilities and help my character to improve their status! I love the story very much cos in the end it really make me burst out of tears along with a sad melody music call "Suteki Da Ne"! Rate is 5/5!! Currently listening:~Mikan by Morning Musume~ |
